Our Class Prayer Ministry has a heart for our classmates who are not in a relationship with Jesus. Two years ago, we set a goal for our Outreach Team to share the Gospel with all as many classmates as possible by our 50th Class Reunion in 2024. As part of this effort, members of this team are intentionally connecting with classmates and talking to them about their spiritual health and their eternal destiny. We are also working to identify classmates from each of our cadet companies to help us with this initiative.
In support of this effort, we have arranged for a guest to be with us on a ZOOM Call on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 8 PM Eastern.
Doug Pollock (bio is at link) will be with us that night. He is the author of God Space – Where Spiritual Conversations Happen Naturally, a member of Athletes in Action, and past speaker at the Pentagon Prayer Breakfast. Doug is passionate about talking to people about Jesus. His ministry has taken him to 39 different countries and throughout most of the United States to share God’s message of salvation.
As a prelude to writing God Space, Doug wrote an article titled “Wondering” which is about an officer from the 101st Airborne Division. Pollock’s websites states – “This article answers the number one question most Christians ask about evangelizing; how do I start an authentic spiritual conversation without “weirding” someone else out? This ‘must-read’ article will help you avoid us vs. them standoffs and many of the other “evangelistic misdemeanors” that bring spiritual conversations to a screeching halt.”
We invite you to pray about joining us in September as we explore how to have more effective conversations with our classmates and with other people who it appears are not in a personal relationship with Jesus. We believe that you’ll be blessed and that you’ll also then feel more confident in how to have conversations about God with others.
If you intend on joining us for the event, Doug suggests that you reflect on the following questions in preparation for the call:
What challenges are you facing as you are intentional in connecting with your classmates to share the Gospel?
Where are you getting ‘stuck’ in your conversations?
If our time with Doug is going to be as good as we hope it will be, you might also consider picking up a copy of his book – God Space – as it will help prepare us all for our time together.
